A neurochip is an integrated circuit chip (such as a microprocessor) that is designed for interaction with neuronal cells. In layman’s term, a computer chip for the human brain.
The neurochip is a neurotechnology (neurotech), developed using neuroscience.
The neurochip can also refer to neuromorphic computer chip, which is any device that uses physical artificial neurons (typically made from silicon, latest tech is nanotubes) to do computations.
These specific type of computation is classified as neuromorphic engineering, also known as neuromorphic computing, is the use of electronic circuits to mimic neuro-biological architectures present in the nervous system.
Training software-based neuromorphic systems of spiking neural networks can be achieved using error backpropagation, e.g., using Python based frameworks such as snnTorch, or using canonical learning rules from the biological learning literature, e.g., using BindsNet.
