The Blessings Of The Latter Rain In The Year of Earth Pig

Wishing all my readers, followers and fans,
Happy Chinese New Year 2019!

Here in my latest illustration, I present to you ‘The Bitcoin Man’ a.k.a. 比特币侠 (Bǐ Tè Bì Xiá), with his legendary “Blade of Bitcoin” slung across his back, with a colossal wild boar signifying Chinese New Year 2019 — “The Year of Earth Pig“.

The rain, is featured while it is sunny, with a hint of rainbow on the left backdrop, signifying the New Creation Church Theme of the Year “Year Of The Latter Rain“.

The BitcoinMan is seen sitting in a nonchalant pose, as he sits on a huge rock, in the light rain pour. The rock where he sits on, infers to the parable of the Wise and the Foolish builders, appearing in the Gospel of Matthew (7:24–27) and Luke (6:46–49).

Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn’t fall, for it was founded on the rock. Everyone who hears these words of mine, and doesn’t do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.

— Matthew 7:24–27

It may have taken a bear market to drive this point home to some, but blockchain is not about getting rich tomorrow. We need to pay more attention to improvements in performance and scalability and pay less attention to new projects. #BUIDL is the new #HODL.

To build substance, instead of just form, to focus on the core technology, instead of pure marketing hype. As mentioned in the parable above, to build your house on solid ‘core technology’ rock.

Work-In-Progress Sketches

I started off sketching the Bitcoin Man in medieval knight style, as one of the knights from the “Order of Arts and Technologies” — “Ordre des Arts et des Technologies”.

And after, decided to illustrate the BitcoinMan in Chinese Wuxia style

And went into further detailing of the sketch, before the final coloring as seen above.
