A 30-slide university teaching deck on human sovereignty, technological enhancement and emerging technology.

This university lecture deck introduces Human-Sovereignty Transhumanism, the philosophical framework developed by Herbert R. Sim for examining technological enhancement through the principles of human sovereignty, autonomy, informed consent, cognitive liberty, mental privacy, ownership, identity, equality and accountability.

Designed for university lecturers, researchers and students, the presentation provides a structured introduction to the philosophy, the Twelve Axioms of Human-Sovereignty Transhumanism, the Human-Sovereignty Transhumanism Protocol Standard (HSTP), the Human-Sovereignty Test and the application of these concepts to emerging technologies.

90-Minute Lecture

The complete 30-slide deck supports a full university lecture incorporating philosophical foundations, the Twelve Axioms, applied governance, emerging technologies, a case study and seminar discussion.

Extended Seminar

For longer seminars, lecturers may combine the slide deck with assigned readings, the HSTP Standard, student group analysis and structured debate concerning a selected enhancement technology.


Suggested Seminar Question

How far can human beings technologically transform themselves without surrendering meaningful authority over their own bodies, minds, identities and futures?

Students may apply this question to artificial intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, genetic modification, neural implants, robotics, longevity technologies or other emerging technologies.


Suggested Case Study

The Networked Neural Interface

A company develops a brain-computer interface capable of improving memory, concentration and communication speed. The device becomes increasingly valuable in education and employment.

However, the interface remains dependent upon the manufacturer’s servers, receives remote software updates and continuously generates neural data. Users may technically refuse adoption, but non-users increasingly face competitive disadvantages.

Students should evaluate:

  • Is adoption genuinely voluntary?
  • Who owns the neural data?
  • Who ultimately controls the interface?
  • Can users disconnect without losing essential functionality?
  • Should a manufacturer be able to remotely alter an implanted or integrated system?
  • Does increased cognitive capability necessarily increase individual freedom?
  • Would the technology satisfy the principles of Human-Sovereignty Transhumanism?
